Dr. Begüm Serim-Yıldız, Head of the Guidance and Psychological Counseling Department at TED University, organized a seminar titled “Perfect Partnership in Education: School and Family Collaboration” for TED Karabük College parents. The seminar was met with great participation. In her presentation, Dr. Serim-Yıldız emphasized the importance of cooperation between school and family in the development of children and made suggestions for establishing this cooperation effectively.
In the seminar, Dr. Serim-Yıldız first talked about why parent-school cooperation is important. Dr. Serim-Yıldız emphasized the need for the school and family to adopt a common approach in meeting the basic needs of children. Then, under the title of “What is the Role of Parents?”, basic responsibilities of parents such as being a model for their children, providing emotional support and using the discipline process as a teaching tool were discussed.
Finally, under the title of “How to Establish Effective Parent-School Communication?”, the effect of open and constructive communication between parents and teachers on children’s success was discussed. Dr. Serim-Yıldız drew attention to the importance of discovering children's interest in the learning process and determining common goals in these areas.
